Spain suppresses smokers' rights

The mandarins and despots of the EU hate smoking. Why that should be is not exactly clear, in many parts of the over-regulated EU the use of other harmful substances, more damaging to human health, and particularly the brain, and often actually illegal, seem to be actively tolerated (perhaps these are the substances of choice used by our unelected masters, the legislation they create often seeming to carry that only rational justification!)

In Spain, from today, smokers will be harried in the sternest manner yet seen in the EU, read here. Soon, no doubt such restrictions will spread. Oh for the common sense expounded in this passage from Atlas Shrugged, Chapter 3:

" I like cigarettes Miss Taggert. I like to think of fire held in a man's hand. Fire, a dangerous force, tamed at his fingertips. I often wonder about the hours, when a man sits alone, watching the smoke of a cigarette, thinking. I wonder what great things have come from such hours. When a man thinks, there is a spot of fire alive in his mind - and it is proper that he should have the burning point of a cigarette as his one expression."
