Is the Government deliberately destroying the British Army?

Channel 4 News this evening carried a disturbing feature on British casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Armed Forces Minister seemed totally unprepared for an attack by an Oxford Coroner, the father of a dead officer claiming responsibility as that of the fomer parsimonious Chancellor and presently lamentable PM, while a barrage of cost figures and statistics left this viewer uncomfortably aware that his growing suspicions that the present British Government was conniving at the deliberate dessication of the country's armed forces were becoming ever more credible.
